UPSC Lateral Entry: UPSC has recruited the post of Joint Secretary level for appointment to the post of Secret Secretary through lateral entry. Civil service officers are usually appointed to these posts.
The matter of direct recruitment through lateral entry in the government was raised on Tuesday. Rajya Sabha MP from Samajwadi Party Ram Gopal Yadav raised the issue of direct recruitment to the post of Joint Secretary in the government. He said that there is displeasure among civil service participants and IAS officers for doing so. He also said that reservation arrangements were not taken care of in such appointments.
Let us know that through the lateral entry, the UPSC has recruited the posts of Joint Secretary level for appointment to the post of Joint Secretary. Usually civil service officers are appointed on these posts. But due to lateral entry, experienced and expert professionals from the private sector will get an opportunity to work on this post.
Let us know that UPSC has sought applications for a total of 30 posts of 3 Joint Secretary and 27 Director Levels in various government departments. With this recruitment, 30 more experts from the private sector will be directly recruited. UPSC has taken out this recruitment on a three-year contract. It can be extended up to 5 years depending on performance.
