A medical bulletin issued by the Kauvery Hospital said that Rajinikanth's health was thoroughly assessed by an expert panel of doctors and he was advised to undergo Cartoid Artery Revascularization (CAR) surgery. A bulletin issued by Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, co-founder and executive director of the hospital, said, "The procedure was completed successfully today and he is recovering well." He is expected to be discharged from the hospital after a few days.


Dr J Amalorpavanathan, an eminent surgeon who has worked in several government medical institutions for decades, explained that CAR is 'a procedure to restore blood supply to the brain.' On Thursday, sources close to the actor had said that he had gone to a city hospital for "regular health check-ups". Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wished the actor a speedy recovery. Wishing the actor a speedy recovery, the Chief Minister said, "Get well soon..."

Rajinikanth's next film, 'Annathe' (Big Brother) is all set to hit the theaters on Diwali (November 4). The actor had tweeted that he had seen the film with his grandson. Directed by Shiva, this film is based on action. Rajinikanth, 70, received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award on October 25 and also met President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the national capital.
