A medical bulletin issued by the Kauvery Hospital said that Rajinikanth's health was thoroughly assessed by an expert panel of doctors and he was advised to undergo Cartoid Artery Revascularization (CAR) surgery. A bulletin issued by Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, co-founder and executive director of the hospital, said, "The procedure was completed successfully today and he is recovering well." He is expected to be discharged from the hospital after a few days.

On Thursday, sources close to the actor had said that he had gone to a city hospital for "regular health check-ups". Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin wished the actor a speedy recovery.
